Kept and Wild
C. R. Jules
For the part of you that wants in the dark and never says so.

Kept and Wild is a story about hunger, and about two people who find in each other the one thing hunger is really after, which is not release. It is recognition. To be seen wanting, all the way down, and to be met there instead of managed.
She is a nurse from Boston, the kind who can read a body across a room and has spent years reading everyone but herself. Tired to her bones from a job that takes and takes, quietly starving to be truly chosen, she takes herself to a hill town in a country she is half afraid of, for the simple and sensible purpose of learning to want nothing at all. It does not go as planned.
He is the kind of man other people describe in lowered voices. Unhurried where others reach. Certain where others perform.
It is a story about being wanted without having to shrink the size of your wanting to earn it.
