What is the Couples Red Journal?

A journal for couples. What we read, what we cook, what we dare, and everything in between. It publishes serial fiction, stand-alone stories, dinners for two from The Table, and dares to play together. Everything is written under the pen name C. R. Jules.

Where do I read the stories?

On Substack. Use the Read button at the top of any page, and it takes you there.

Is it free?

Much of it is. There are three ways to read:

• Free. Subscribe for free and every free story arrives complete, with new releases by email the day they publish, sneak peeks of the members' stories, The Spread, and a seat in the comments.
• Member. A paid membership, monthly or yearly. Every serial complete, with each chapter, episode and annex, the full archive, and bonus material written for members.
• The Inner Circle. The top plan, by the year. Everything members get, plus the afterthoughts (the notes C. R. Jules adds after a finished story: thoughts, opinions and recommendations, sometimes heated, always honest), the director's cut sheets, the story universe, C. R. Jules' own blog, special editions, and a private room of its own.

Current prices are shown on Substack when you choose a plan. A paying subscriber keeps the price they joined at for as long as they stay.

How do I subscribe, change or cancel?

Substack handles every subscription and all billing. To subscribe, go in through the Read button and choose a plan. To change or cancel, open your Substack account settings and manage your subscription there. We never see your card, so Substack is also the place to ask about a payment.

Is my reading private?

On this site, yes: there are no accounts and nothing to log into. On Substack, your profile can show which publications you read and which posts you liked. You can turn that off. In your Substack settings, choose to hide your subscriptions from your profile, and hide your likes. Comments are public and carry your Substack name, so pick a name you are comfortable with.

Do you sell my data?

No. We do not sell it, rent it, or build a profile of you. The privacy policy sets out the little we do hold.

Can I send you my story?

Yes, please. Use the Feature my story form. We read every submission and reply when it is a fit.

Can I be featured in The Spread?

Tell us you are interested through the Spread form. If it is a fit, we will follow up privately.

Will there be printed books?

Yes, they are coming. When a printed edition is ready, it will be on the Publications page.
